'The Irish on the Salient - Messines and Passchendaele' 28 April - 1st May : This Great War tour takes in the history of Ypres during 1917 through Irish Eyes.  It covers the main battle sites with the aim of understanding the chronology, the terrain and most importantly reasons why those from Ireland fought in Ypres in those dark days of the last century. The tour centres on the lives of those men from the 16th (Irish) and 36th (Ulster) Divisions who had to endure the unbelievable conditions and privations of those dismal months in 1917. We visit the graves and memorials of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.  Passchendaele became known as the slaughter battlefield and with it a story also of waste, horror, emotion, duty and pride.
